Cross stitch pattern maker

Create a cross stitch pattern from a photo of your pet. You get a symbol chart with bold lines every 10 stitches, floss numbers for each color, stitch counts and the finished size on your fabric.

Private: runs in your browser. Your photo is never uploaded.

How to use the cross stitch pattern maker

  1. Upload your photo.
  2. Choose the width in stitches and your Aida count (14-count is the most common).
  3. Set the maximum number of floss colors.
  4. Download the chart as PNG or as a printable PDF with chart pages and a color key.

Tips for better results

  • 80–120 stitches wide is a good starting size for a pet portrait.
  • Use the black-and-white symbols view if you print on a mono printer.
  • Floss matches are approximate; check colors in daylight before buying.

FAQ

Are the floss numbers exact?

They are the closest match from a community-measured color table of the widely used 6-strand floss numbering, so treat them as approximate. Screens and dye lots vary.

How big will my finished cross stitch be?

Divide the stitch count by your fabric count. The tool does this for you: an 84-stitch-wide design on 14-count Aida is 6 inches wide, before any border.

Can I print the pattern?

Yes. The PDF splits large charts across pages, numbers the grid every 10 stitches and adds a color key with stitch counts.
